King Springs Elementary Grounds Cleanup

Project Description

The King Springs Elementary Grounds Cleanup project was for the Beautification of Exterior Grounds with SuperSmyrna. On March 13, 2010, volunteers from the Smyrna Golden K Kiwanis, Smyrna Rotary, Keller Williams Cares, the Cobb Chamber of Commerce as well as Principal Linda Keeney, and a few King Springs Elementary School parents and students trimmed excess branches, removed pine cones, cleaned up branches on the ground, got rid of pine straw that is in the gutters or on the sidewalks and more.

Volunteers brought hedging, branch cutting and other related tools.

Impact

In spite of pouring rain over the past two days and in spite of the threat of rain on the day of the project, 24 volunteers showed up spanning the ages of 6 all the way up to 80 and performing 48 hours of community service. We all had a great time! The project accomplished all of its objectives: helping to clean the grounds of the school, building connections between the school’s administration and PTA and volunteers, and helping to build a better community. Principal Keeney provided refreshments and Lorrie Hilgeman of the Great Harvest Bread Company in Smyrna brought bags of huge, mouth watering cookies for all of the volunteers.

Testimonials

Thank you sooooo much for organizing such a great effort at the school today.

It is really nice to see the community come together. Beautification of the school is always been a huge part of my personal time and effort. I can appreciate all of the time and effort it takes to coordinate an initiative like you all did today. So thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Again, thank you for considering King Springs as part of your efforts.
