Nickajack Elementary School

*Nickajack partners with Sylvan Buckhead/Vinings. The center sponsored a reading contest to coincide with our book fair. We had winners at each grade level! Sylvan is sponsoring a Create A Book contest to support Read Across America. Sylvan truly partners with us to help increase student performance.

*The Book Fair kicks off on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 10 AM to 2 PM. There will also be Doughnuts with Grandparents on Saturday. Regular hours continue during the week of Feb 22 – 26. 7:30 – 8:30 AM. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday the fair is open from 2 – 3:30 PM and on Tuesday and Thursday from 2 – 6 PM. Our theme this year is Book Fair Diner – All You Can Read! (In an effort to reach out to the community at large and promote community involvement, our book fair committee began opening the fair up to everyone by instituting the Saturday kick-off. It has been a big success. This is the second year that we have opened the fair to the community.)

*We had a fabulous Family Fun & Fitness Night last Thursday, February 4! There were community health organizations and businesses involved to promote wellness.

*Our fabulous counselor, Ms. Nicole Pfleger, was voted the Elementary Counselor of the Year for Cobb County and will be recognized by the Cobb Board of Education on Thursday, February 25.

*We raised $1225.00 during our “Hearts for Haiti” drive by making awareness pins and by taking donations in the lobby. On January 12, 2010 Haiti experienced the worst earthquake in more than a century. The catastrophic 7.0-magnitude earthquake that struck the Western Hemisphere’s poorest country is estimated to have affected over 3 million people. Students received heart stickers to wear in appreciation for their contribution. Thank you to Mrs. Nicula for inspiring our “Hearts for Haiti” project! Nickajack will be partnering with CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. CARE is an Atlanta-based relief group that has worked to help people in Haiti since 1954. THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO SPREAD THE “CHAIN REACTION OF KINDNESS” TO THE PEOPLE OF HAITI. If you have any questions, please contact Nicole Pfleger Nicole.Pfleger at cobbk12 dot org or 678-842-5814, ext. 230.

We love giving tours of our beautiful school.
