Brown Elementary is a wonderfully intimate elementary school with a great principal (Brett Ward) and a wonderful staff of administrators and teachers. The quarterly awards program is supported by various groups including the Marietta Kiwanis Club and the Smyrna Rotary Club.
Congratulations Brown Elementary!
The Georgia Department of Education and the Governor’s Office of Student Accountability recently honored Brown Elementary with the Silver Status Award for Greatest Gains in Achievement!
This award is based on student performance for the 2008-2009 Georgia CRCT. Performance on the CRCT helps determine a school’s status under Federal Law- No Child Left Behind.
Each award has four honor levels – Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. These levels correspond to a school’s consistent performance and Adequate Yearly Progress. Thirty-six Cobb County Schools, including Brown Elementary, are among just 327 schools in Georgia to receive this prestigious honor. Brown Elementary students demonstrated outstanding performance on the CRCT with a significant percentage of students exceeding standards. We are very proud of this accomplishment!
